Mr. John Thomas Jasper, SR. son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Sylvia Irene Marshall Jasper, was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on March 30, 1930 and he departed this life after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, January 09, 2008 haiving attained the age of 77 years.
He was united in marriage to Marjorie Mae Roberts Jasper on July 22, 1967, she survives. Other survivors include;one son, John Thomas Jasper, JR. of Niles, Michigan; one daughter, Patricia A. Jasper also of Niles, Michigan; one step-son, Robert A. Culp, SR of Niles, Michigan; one brother, Mr. Kenneth Jasper of New Castle, Indiana; his step-mother, Carrie Dean Jasper of Somerset, KY; five grandchildren, and one step-grandchild, Robert A. Culp, JR. and several great grandchildren. He also leaves a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by; one daughter, Linda M. Conners; and two brothers, Lawrence and Fredrick Jasper.
Mr. Jasper was a retired train engineer from Conrail Railroad having retired after 22 years of service to the company, he was also a Korean War veteran and a Charter Member of the American Legion Bertrand Post # 116 of Niles, Michigan. He and Marjorie moved to Somerset, Kentucky from Niles, Michigan in 1989 and have resided in this wonderful community for the last 18 years.
Private internmet will take place on Friday, January 11, 2007 at the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation prior to the private ceremony on Friday.
