Harold L. Atkins, 84, of Somerset, passed away Thursday, November 1st, 2012 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital..
He was born April 16, 1928 in Ludlow, Pennsylvania to the late Preston and Alma (Troutner) Atkins.
Harold was a navy veteran and later worked in the supply branch of the Air Force and the Air Force Logistics Command at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, also doing consulting work through Logtec, Inc. before retiring.
He served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in many ministry capacities over the years, including song leader, youth director, and in seniors outreach ministries among other things. He loved to sing and continued to do so until his death.
Harold is survived by his wife of 59 years, Willena (Weddle) Atkins of Somerset, one son David Atkins (Judy) of Linton, Indiana, three brothers Howard Atkins (Jackie) of Jamestown, New York, Myron Atkins (Emma) of Tipp City, Ohio, William Atkins (Viola) of Jamestown, New York, one sister Nancy Olson of Gastonia, North Carolina, one sister-in-law Olive Dawes of Nancy, Kentucky, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven other brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012 in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Burnett of Trinity Fellowship officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
The family of Mr. Harold L. Atkins will receive friends on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at Pulaski Funeral Home.
Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers family request expressions of sympathy take the form of donation to the Trinity Fellowship Church.
