Mr. Melvin Phipps, age 93 of Bronston, Kentucky, son of the late Laura (Ramey) and Bradford Phipps was born on February 1, 1919 in Salyersville, Kentucky and departed this life on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the Cumberland Nursing & Rehab.
Other than his parents Melvin was preceded in death by his wife: Mildred Phipps, one daughter: Laura Paulette Rogers, one brother: Curtis Phipps, four sisters: Zora Lane, Louis Collinsworth, Virginia Phipps and LaRue Jenkins and one grandson: David Rogers.
Melvin is survived by one son: Eugene H. Phipps of Bronston, Kentucky, two daughters: Glenda Kay Phipps also of Bronston, Kentucky, and Sandra Phipps (and Steve) Ashe and one sister: Gertrude Williams of Salyersville, Kentucky. Melvin also leaves behind the following grandchildren David Ray (and Denise) Phipps, Pamela (and Mike) Carter, G.Craig (and Denise) Lindak, Glenda Buzzeli, Karen (and Mike) Burke, Laura (and Mark) Murray and Lauren K. Ashe, 14 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends who all mourn his passing.
Melvin was retired from DuPont and was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio. Melvin loved to fish and was kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 12 noon in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Hammond officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
The family of Mr. Melvin Phipps will receive friends from 5-8p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Pulaski Funeral Home.
