Wesley Eugene “Gene” Flynn passed away on Monday, August 6, 2012 having attained the age of 85 years. He was born on February 15, 1927 in Burnside, Kentucky to Robert E. and Stella Colyer Flynn.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and was employed for a time with General Motors of Ohio.
He returned to Somerset and was employed with the Palm Beach Company from which he retired. Gene was also a farmer and he loved Farming and taking care of his cows.
He was united in marriage to Helen Dykes on April 26, 1953 and they were blessed with 59 years together.
He is survived by his wife; Helen Dykes Flynn and one brother, Glen (and Joyce) Flynn of Newcastle, Indiana; two sisters, Louise Cassada of Florida and Christine Flynn of Bronston, Kentucky; one brother-in-law, Jewell Dykes of Somerset, Kentucky; and four sisters, Geneva Dykes, Clementine Warren, and Madeline Ping all of Somerset and Fern Vilardo of Ohio. Also left to mourn his passing are a host of nieces and nephews and the following special friends, Bill Goodin, Clementine Warren, Frances and Vance Whitaker and Donald and Dixie Linville, Billy Denham, Tommy Roberts and his family and many others who were ice and helpful during his time of illness.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 10, 2012 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
