Betty Jean Yonce, 81, died Wednesday, July 18 2012 at Christian Health Center in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, of natural causes.
A native of Knox County, she was born August 8, 1930, the daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt Trosper and Susie Hutson Trosper. Mrs.Yonce was retired from working for the State of Kentucky in the former Cabinet for Human Resources. She was a dedicated pastor’s wife, serving at the side of her husband, Rev. Lawrence Neil Yonce, until his in death in 1978 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her brothers Ray Trosper and James Ballard Trosper, and her sisters Marjorie Trosper Cummins and Juanita Trosper Peyton.
Survivors include brothers and sisters Bill Trosper of Midlothian, Virginia; Elizabeth “Happy” Buchanan and Wanda Bruner both of Louisville, Kentucky; children Yvette and Wayne Eastham of Hopkinsville, Spencer and Lisa Yonce of Nashville, Tennessee and Cody and Mickie Yonce of Brunswick, Georgia; her grandchildren Meredith Joanna Eastham and Micah Addison Eastham of Hopkinsville, Neil Logan Yonce, Lorah Elisabeth Yonce, Leah Grace Yonce, Lydia Ruth Yonce and Lillian Hannah Yonce, all of Nashville.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. CDT Saturday, July 21, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Hopkinsville, with the Rev. Dr. Rick Stevens officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at 11:00 on Saturday. Graveside services will follow on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. EDT at Somerset Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky.
