Hollis Edwin Ard, 81, of Nancy, Ky., passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at The Forum at Brookside in Louisville, Kentucky after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Ard was born in Nancy on October 18, 1930, to the late Ollie and Lura (Buchanon) Ard. Mr. Ard was a member of the White Oak Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Alton Blakley Ford in Somerset, Kentucky after 37 years of service. After his retirement, he loved working on the farm with his brothers. He also enjoyed annual visits to the beach with family, gardening and working in the yard, and spending time with his grandson.
Mr. Ard is survived by his daughter, Kim (and Ron) Cutler, Louisville, Ky.; a grandson, Todd Cutler, of Louisville, Ky; two brothers, Nelson (and Arrena) Ard, Nancy, and Lowell (and Sue) Ard, Nancy; a sister, Inez Stephens, Florence, Ky.; one brother-in-law, William “Gene” Chapman, Hickory, N.C., several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Weddle Ard, in 2009 and one brother; Edwin Ard who died as a young child.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 5 p.m. till 9 p.m. at Pulaski Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 7, at Pulaski Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Bro. Reggie Tipton officiating.
Interment will follow in White Oak Cemetery, Nancy.
