George Ray Irvine, age 88 of Somerset, KY departed this life on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on April 18, 1924 in the Beech Grove community of Pulaski County to the late Layton and Tina Taylor Irvine. George was a World War II Army veteran and a retired Crane employee.
He enjoyed hunting, raising a garden, and spending time with his family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and loved to make people laugh. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Carl, John and James “Jimmy’ Irvine.
He is survived by his wife; Lillian Hamilton Irvine, whom he married on April 27, 1947 in Somerset, KY; one brother, Charles “Charlie” Irvine of Harrodsburg, KY; four children, Ronnie (and Patty) Irvine of Somerset, KY, Linda Halcomb of Somerset, KY, Kenny (and Gina) Irvine of Somerset, KY, and Krista Cromer of Science Hill, KY; seven grandchildren and thee great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. Wednesday until time for services. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Oral Denney officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 38.
