Everett W. Brown

Mr. Everett W. Brown, son of the late Lewis and Bessie Adams Brown, was born at Quail, Kentucky on May 19, 1922 and he departed this life in Lexington, KY on Monday, September 17th, 2007 having attained the age of 85 years. He was united in marriage to Hazel Price Brown on May 18, 1947. She preceded him in death on April 4, 2004. Survivors include; one daughter, Carolyn Brown of Lexington, KY; her husband, Larry Jackson also of Lexington, KY; and one grandson, Greg Jackson. Other than his parents and his wife, Everett was preceded in death by; three brothers, Clifford, Steve and Lewis Brown and three sisters; Sue Tevebaugh Nellie Brown, and Pat Dalton. Everett was a World War II Army veteran, and he was a member of the signal corp and he served in the Pacific Theater, achieving the rank of Tech. 3, Staff Sargent. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater medal with 3 bronze stars, the Phillipine Liberation Medal with two bronze stars and a good conduct medal and a victory medal. After his military service, he operated the Imperial House Truck Stop north of Somerset, Ky from 1946 to 1948. He was later employed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky into the Highway Division. His last position was the director of the Division of Budget for the Kentucky Department of Highways until he retired in 1981 after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of the Somerset First Baptist Church and was also involved in the Kiwanis Club. He also enjoyed having served on the Pulaski County Board of Elections from 1984 through 1997. He also ran a beef cattle operation in Pulaski County for many years. Everett was a kind person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and he leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn his passing. The family of Mr. Everett Brown would like to take this opportunity to thaks all who have been so kind during this time; they especially want to thank the staff and management of the Comfortkeepers Organization for thier professional and loving care of Mr. Brown during these last months and days. Your love, care and concern is greatly appreciated. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2007 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Mr. Larry Cranfill and Rev. Jim Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the Eden Cemetery. The family of Mr. Everett W. Brown will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home after 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2007. His family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the University of Kentucky Department of Ophthamology C/O Susannah Denomme 120 Sturgill Development Building, Lexington, KY 40506-0015 or the Eden Cemetry Fund. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be asked to be in charge of the funeral arrangements of Mr. Everett Brown.
