Mr. Ray Walters

Mr. Ray Walters, son of the late Carlisle and Flossie Meeks Walters, was born in the Pumpkin Chapel Community of Casey County, KY on January 29, 1923 and he departed this life on Thursday, April 5, 2012 in Somerset, Kentucky having attained the age of 89 years. He was united in marriage to Helen Turpen Walters on July 26, 1952, she survives. Other survivors include; two sons, Michael (and Barbara) Walters and Alan (and Rose) Walters of Nancy, KY; two daughters, Lee Ann (and Jim) Drake of Somerset, KY and Janet (and Marty) Wilson of Nancy, KY; one sister, Mary Jo (and Don) Green of Florida; seven grandchildren, Rebekah (and Neal) Branscum, John Walters, Elizabeth Walters, Justin Wilson, Lynsey Wilson, Jimmy Drake, Ben Drake; two great grandchildren, Ryder Branscum, Kathleen Branscum. He was preceded in death by; his parents, one grandchild, Marcus Alan Walters; and three sisters, Aural Lawson, Francis Riggins and Letta Jasper. Ray was a member of the White Oak Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for 47 years, he was also a member of the American Legion Post # 38 Honor Guard. He was a farmer, a World War II U.S. Army Aircorp veteran, a 1942 Casey County High School graduate and a 1949 graduate of the University of Kentucky. He was also a retired agriculture teacher for Nancy High School where he taught for 31 years. He was a kind person who loved church, family and country. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and he leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn his passing. Any former student that wants to be a honorary pallbearer my do so. Funeral services for Mr. Ray Walters will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the White Oak Baptist Church with Bro. Reggie Tipton, Bro. Larry Butte and Bro. Rick Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery. The family of Mr. Ray Walters will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home after 5:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012 and at the church from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until time for services. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 38. Pulaski Funeral Home is honors to be in charge of all arrangements for Mr. Ray Walters.
