Bro. Bernard Gene Meece, 77, of the White Lily Community, passed away on Monday, January 23rd, in the year of our Lord, 2012. Born on January 29, 1934 in Somerset, Kentucky to William Kellis and Georgia E. Ping Meece, he proudly served in the United States Army where he held the distinguished title of Green Beret as a member of the special forces. He was also a member of the 101st and 82nd Airborne. He surrendered to preach the gospel in 1972, remaining faithful to preaching of God’s word until illness forced him to retire.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and survived by his wife of 53 years, Margie Pearl Meece; one sister, Catherine (and Bill) Phelps of Somerset, KY; two daughters, Jan (and Robert) Long of Somerset, KY, and Tammie (and Rick) Bullock of Mt. Vernon, KY; one son, Brent (and Jill) Meece also of Somerset, KY and the following grandchildren, Jon Ridner, Amanda Strader, April Ridner, Aaron Ridner, Ashley Ridner, Sabra Meece and Levi Meece.
Bro. Meece was a kind person who will be missed by all who knew him, he leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the White Lily Baptist Church with Bro. Gary Phelps, Bro. Doug Eggers and Bro. Daniel Harper officiating. Burial will follow in the White Lily Cemetery.
The family of Bro. Bernard Gene Meece will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home after 5:00 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2012 and at the White Lily Baptist Church from 9:00 a.m. Friday until time for services.
Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 38
