Barbara Schoolcraft, daughter of the late Wesley and Ruth Meece, was born on March 21, 1944 and departed this life at her residence surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 having attained the age of 67 years.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Eddie Schoolcraft for the past 48 ½ happy years. He survives.
Other survivors include; two children, Tonya Schoolcraft (and Anthony) Venable and Brad Schoolcraft (and his fiancee; Sabrina Stephens); four grandchildren, Allie and Braden Venable and Mary and Molly Schoolcraft; special nieces, Michelle (and Jeff) Owens and Jacklyn Byrd ; one special great nephew, Roderick Strunk and one special great niece, Ashton Owens.
Other than her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by two sisters, Sandra Duncan, and Rhonda Byrd, one brother-in-law, Ikey Duncan, and one niece, Marla Strunk.
Barbara was a former employee of First and Farmers Bank, and Mutual Federal Savings and Loan, she was a graduate of Ferguson High School where she was a cheerleader. She attended the East Somerset Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, that she loved so much.
At the time of her death, she was a very talented artist and an avid “yard sale gal.”.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2011 at the East Somerset Baptist Church with Rev. Darvie Fenison and Rev. Murrell Crockett officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Barbara Schoolcraft will receive friends at the East Somerset Baptist Church from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
