Mr. Howard Edward Cook, age. 90 passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving wife and daughter. Howard was born on April 27, 1921 in the Grundy Community to Virgil and Gracie (Hunt) Cook.
He was united in marriage to Maisie (Glover) Cook on February 14, 1946 and they were blessed with a loving daughter Sheila Cook Parkey of Somerset.
Howard proudly served his country during World War II with the 85. He served in England, France, Germany, Belgium and Rhineland. He received five Bronze Stars and was honorably discharged on November 23, 1945 with the rank of Staff Sgt.
He was a member of Rock Lick Baptist Church where he had served faithfully in the positions of Sunday School Director, Sunday School Teacher, Trustee and Deacon.
Howard loved to farm and grow vegetables for others. He was always eager to tell others of Jesus’ love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Harold Norfleet Cook, infant brother; Harry Cook and sister Irene Brinson.
He is survived by his wife and daughter, two nephews, Vonis (and Ruth) Brinson, Dellis (and Imadene) Brinson and great nephew; Larry Joe (and Melinda) Brinson and several other loving nieces, nephews, and special friends who all mourn his passing.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. C.E. Jacobs and Bro. Chuck Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Lick Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 after 11:00 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
