Richmond Lee Slavey

Mr. Richmond Lee Slavey, formerly of Faubush, passed away at the home of his daughter on Saturday, July 30, 2011. Richmond was born July 16, 1928 to Lou Ona Dykes Slavey and Elmer Slavey. Richmond was later raised by Mrs. Imogene Erp Slavey until he moved to Faubush, where he met his wife , Mary Maxine Molen Slave. Rich and Maxine were married June 14, 1947 and lived their entire life in Faubush. Richmond was a deacon at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Faubush, as long as he and his wife’s health permitted attendance. Richmond worked for the county and state road department as a truck driver and then went to work at Crane Co. not long after it first began operation in Ferguson. Richmond retired from Crane in 1988. He loved to watch the UK Wildcats and Ford Nascar Racing. Rich was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to everyone. Due to his great love for Maxine, Richmond gave his last good years to her care. Richmond is survived by two daughters, Loretta S. Cundiff and Christi L (and Billy) Miller both of Somerset. Also, two that were called his other daughters, Tammie Shockley, Scottsville, KY., and Karen Burton, Faubush, KY. He took great pride in his 5 grandsons, G.G. (and Misty) Cundiff, Lucas Lee (and Stephanie) Slavey, Kelly (and Ruth) Miller, Ricky (and Christie) Cundiff, Tyson (and Mary Jo) Baker, and had great love for his only granddaughter, Mary Beth Miller Brock. He also loved to play with his 14 great-grandchildren. He is survived by one that is like a sister, Mary Ann Combs and many other friends and relatives. Richmond was preceded in death by his parents, his second mother, his wife, his only son, Gary Lee Slavey, a sister, Lucille Molen, and a brother, Carmen Slavey. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Gilbert Robinson and Bro. Billy Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery in Nancy, KY. The family of Mr. Richmond Lee Slavey will receive friends after 6 p.m. Monday, August 1, 2011 at Pulaski Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be made in donations to Jordan Christian Academy. Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements for Mr. Richmond Lee Slavey.
