Mr. Vola " V.K. " Stewart

Mr. Vola K. "V.K." Stewart, age 98, of Somerset, Kentucky son of the late John Sam and Rosie (Meece) Stewart was born on October 8, 1912 in Shopville, Kentucky and departed this life on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Other than his parents Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by one brother; Theodore “Ted” Stewart. Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife of 59 years Shirley (Bishop) Stewart, one son; Danny (and Charlotte) Stewart of Somerset, Kentucky, one daughter; Bonnie (and Lee) Schafer of Houston, Texas, He is also survived by four grandchildren; Kelli (and Rick) Eagle of Colorado, Kevin (and Jenny) Langford of Nevada, Ryan Phelps of Somerset, Rebecca (and Jordan) Wright also of Somerset, five great-grandchildren; Cade Eagle, Ellie Eagle, John Langford, Emma Wright and Owen Wright and host of relatives and friends who all mourn his passing. Mr. Stewart was a member of Fellowship Methodist Church of Shopville, a veteran of the United States Navy, a Modern Woodsman, Kentucky Colonel and worked as a Farmer, Auctioneer, Plumber and a Electrician. Mr. Stewart was one of the longest living Diabetics and his wife Shirley was his rock and kept him going for all these years. He was a very respected and admired man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Glenn Cox and his grandson, Bro. Kevin Langford officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery. The family of Mr. Vola K. "V.K." Stewart will receive friends on Thursday, July 7, 2011 after 11:00 a.m. until time for services at Pulaski Funeral Home. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38.
