Mr. Charlie Porter Buckner, son of the late Porter and Maime Bryant Buckner, was born in Ferguson, Kentucky on December 28, 1926 and he departed this life in the presence of his wife, peacefully on Wednesday, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital having attained the age of 84 years.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Hamilton Buckner whom he married on September 26, 2009; one son, Larry (and Diane) Buckner of Cincinnati, Ohio; two daughters, Joyce Beckett and Sue Buckner both of Cincinnati, Ohio; two step-children; Joyce Ann (and Jim) Polello and Helen (and Gerald) Burress all of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Evelyn Gibson of Bronston, Kentucky and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by; two step-children, Terry Ray Claunch and Cynthia Lynn Claunch; and one brother, Clyde Buckner.
Mr. Buckner was a member of the Merchant Marines during World War II. He later became a truck driver for several years. He was also a 50 year member of the McMakin Lodge #120 F & AM as well as a 50 year member of the Shriners in Cincinnati, Ohio. When he was able, he attended the Bronston First Baptist Church. He was a kind person who will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 25 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Carter Steward officiating. Burial will follow in the New Bronston Cemetery.
The family of Mr. Charlie Porter Buckner will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011 until time for services.
