James Lowell Farmer “Strawberry”/”Red Fox”, age 61, of Somerset, formerly of Sumter, Scout Carolina departed this life on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at his residence.
He was born June 22, 1949 in Somerset to Mae (Collins) and the late Lowell Farmer. James was in the retail building supply business as an estimator becoming disabled. He adhered to the Holiness faith. He was a graduate of Somerset High School Class of 1969.
James was well-known for his great personality, his sense of humor and most of all his love and loyalty to family and friends. He loved a good joke and was always willing to tell one. He was quick to laugh and tell some “wild stories”.
He lived in Sumter, South Carolina for many years, but his heart was always in Kentucky especially with the UK Wildcats! He endured his last days with courage, humor, and grace. He was a fighter till the end. Regardless of how you knew him as James, “Strawberry” or “Red Fox” you know he enjoyed life.
He is survived by his mother, Mae Farmer, of Somerset, one daughter, Samantha of Sumter, SC, three sisters, Lois (and Glen) Mounce of Somerset, Doris Linder of Atlanta, GA, and Betty (and John David) Sears of Somerset, 1 nephew, John “Chris” Daws of Seattle, Washington, 1 niece, Tiffany Moffett Eastham, 1 great nephew Eli Eastham.
