Ronald Lewis Beckman, age 73, of Carrollton, KY (formerly of Somerset, KY) passed away on May 8, 2007, at the Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY.
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 9, 1933 to Herman and Emma Mayleben Beckman, both of whom preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his one brother, Lawrence V. Beckman, one sister, Elaine A. Beckman, infant daughter Elaine Beckman, step-grandson, Jeff Patton and a special friend, Loretta Hanaway.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Dorothy Hewitt Beckman, one son, Ralph L. Beckman and his special friend Cindie Sears, both of Somerset, KY, and three daughters: Ronette (Carl) Patton of Vincennes, IN, Kathy (Bob) Hawks of Peachtree City, GA and Rosemarie (Doug) Brown of Pembroke Pines, FL. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Ryan (and wife, Amanda) Hawks of Charlotte, NC, Meredith (Chris) Hines of Raleigh, NC, Kristen Brown of Pembroke Pines, FL, Erik Beckman of Lexington, KY, Lorilee, Ami, Jasey, Mary Kathryn, Ali Beckman and Savannah King, , all of Somerset, KY. He also has four step grandchildren: Chuck, Greg, and Brad Patton, and Michelle Patton Hyatt.
He is survived also by three great grandchildren, Anna Taylor, Ashley and Paul Hawks of Charlotte, NC.
Mr. Beckman was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was formerly employed with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, was a licensed EMT, a private investigator, a Kentucky Colonel and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 1157.
A memorial service for Mr. Beckman will be held on June 9, 2007 at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset. Visitation prior to the services will begin at 3 p.m. Burial will be at The Rock Lick Cemetery.
