Valentine Morgan Diamond, 97, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011 at her residence.
She was born in Hyden, Kentucky on February 14, 1914, daughter of the late Grant and Mary Jane Jones Morgan. She was a Christian and up until her death was the oldest living member of Camp Ground Baptist Church.
She was married to Astor Diamond on October 15, 1932, who preceded her in death on April 28, 1963. Their marriage was blessed with four children who survive. Glen & (Shirley) Diamond, Virgil & (Janet) Diamond, Larry Diamond and Mary Susan & (Jerry) Down, special daughter-in-law, Toni Diamond, ten grandchildren, John Diamond, William Mitchell Diamond, Carl Diamond, Donna Hall, Nancy Rankin, Lisa Colyer, Cindy Clouse, Beth Anne Halcomb, Amy Diamond and Stephen Godby, thirteen great-grandchildren, John Glen Diamond, Doug Diamond, Julie Mullins, Joy Sloan, Spencer Diamond, Aaron Hall, Riley Hall, Audrey Halcomb, Grant Patrick Halcomb, Emily Godby, Rachel Colyer, McKinsey Clouse and Ben Clouse, three great-great-grandchildren, Landyn and Seanna Mullins and Sophie Sloan and many dear nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Diamond was a devoted wife and mother that made her entire family feel loved and cherished. Besides her family, she enjoyed needle work, gardening and preparing the many holiday dinners throughout her life. She was the perfect Virtuous Woman that the Bible speaks about in Proverbs Chapter 31 - Who can find a virtuous woman for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Virgil Diamond III, sisters, Ruby Morgan Wilson and Dorothy Morgan Mitchell and brothers, Oval Morgan, Paul Morgan and Carl Morgan.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Ashley officiating.
Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg, KY.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Tuesday at Pulaski Funeral Home.
