Mrs. Edna Elizabeth Rowe

Mrs. Edna Elizabeth Rowe, daughter of the late Robert and Nellie Haynes Phelps, was born at Bobtown, Kentucky on Tuesday, May 7, 1929, and she departed this life on Monday, April 25, 2011 having attained the age of 81 years 11 months and 18 days. She was united in marriage to Mr. Jimmie Carl Rowe for more than 51 years, he survives. Other survivors include; one son, Robert Ray Rowe of Cleves, Ohio; three daughters, Beverly Jane (and Charles) Mericle of Independence, KY, Diane Elizabeth (and Tim) Lutz of Cleves, Ohio, and Jennifer (and Vinnie) Greene of Norfolk, Virginia; one brother, Bill Phelps of Cleves, Ohio; 15 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. Other than her parents, Mrs. Rowe was also preceded in death by; one son, Ricky James Rowe; one daughter, Linda Jean Rowe; one brother, Bud Phelps; one sister, Lemma Haynes and 3 grandchildren. Edna enjoyed teaching in Ohio for many years, she was a member of the Pitman Creek Baptist Church and was a kind and loving lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She leaves a host of relatives, friends and church family who mourn her passing. The children and grandchildren listed are only the biological children of Sis Rowe, as all her family and friends knew our Mom as. She gathered many children throughout her life of service to others. She taught children most of her life in Sunday School and School Classrooms. The children were the delight of her life. They learned the Love of God from her. But teaching did not stop there; we all saw first hand that when hard times come you just do what others need and you will get by. Her journals were full of prayer for so many, as I perused them I realized her selflessness. Proverbs 31 talks about a Virtuous Woman, as I read I saw Sis Rowe in every verse, her value on Earth was " Far above Rubies ". The ones fortunate enough to share her life only hope we can carry on Her Legacy of Love to those we pass on our way to be reunited with her. No matter who she was to you: Honey, Sis, Mom, Mammaw, Aunt Sis, or Friend, please celebrate with us now the opportunity to have spent this life with her Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Love Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Edna Elizabeth Rowe will receive friends from 12:00 noon Thursday, April 28, 2011 until time for services.
