Mr. James E. "Bunt" Phelps

Mr. James “Bunt” Phelps, son of the late Toney and Lucy Ethel Phelps, was born on April 3, 1935 and he departed this life on Friday, April 22, 2011 having attained the age of 76 years. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Mildred “Tooter” Ping Phelps, she survives. Other survivors include; one son, Chris Phelps of Ferguson, KY; four daughters, Tammy (and Dickie) Lewis of Burnside, KY, Tina Phelps of Ferguson, KY, Jami (and Allen) Dobbs of Ferguson, KY and Carol (and Harvey) Maynard of Somerset, KY; the following grandchildren, Christy (and Jason ) Griffith, Ruth (and Kelly) Miller, Chase, Chandler, David, and Cacee Dobbs, and Cameron and Caden Maynard; the following great grandchildren, Devin and Jaxx Griffith, Brody and Bentley Baker,, and Lauren and Lachlan Miller, and Khloe Dobbs; and the following sisters, Elizabeth Minton, and Reba Hatfield. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by; one son, Jamie Lee Phelps,; one great grandson, Reece Griffith, and the following brothers and sisters, Glen Phelps, Delores Phelps, Lenard Phelps, Katherine Colyer, and Howard Phelps. Bunt was a kind person, when he was active had served on the Ferguson City Council for several years, and he has the distinction of being the last town Marshall of Ferguson, he was a member of the Ferguson United Methodist Church, and he enjoyed collecting H. O. Scale Trains. He was a kind person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him and he leaves a host of other relatives, friends and church family who mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. James “Bunt” Phelps will be held at the Ferguson United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 with rev. Gene Weddle and Rev. Ed Parton officiating. Burial will follow in the Minton Cemetery in Ferguson. The family of Mr. Phelps will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011 and at the Ferguson United Methodist Church from 11:00 a.m. Wednesday until after services. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Ferguson United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 242 Ferguson, KY 42533, or the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all arrangements for Mr. James “Bunt” Phelps.
