Mrs. Alta Burton, daughter of the late W.D. "Billy" and Lu Vernnie Trimble Stringer, was born at Somerset, KY on April 25, 1930 and she departed this life on Thursday, May 03, 2007 having attained the age of 77 years.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Dewey Burton, he preceded her in death after 34 years of marriage.
Survivors include; one son, Tim and Janice Burton of Somerset, KY; and one brother, Herb Stringer of Cincinnati, Oh; the following grandchildren, Josh and Amanda Burton, Kristi and Gary Rowe, Mara Buton and Jennifer Jones,; and the following great grandchildren, Zackary Rowe, Morganna Rowe, and Samantha Jones.
Other than her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by; one daughter, Patricia Burton; four sisters, Tori Lane, Josie Lane, Cora Bea Hewitt, Rozella Sweeney; and four brothers, George, Lonnie, Gail and Arthur Stringer.
Alta was a retired Nursing Assistant, and she was involved with the Ladies Church Guild of the First United Methodist Church where she was also an active member as long as her health would permit.
She was a kind lady who will be greatly missed by those who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2007 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home, with Rev. Doug Wilcoxson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Alta Burton will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 06, 2007 at Pulaski Funeral Home.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
