Clifton James Gibson

Clifton James Gibson 83, of Somerset, Kentucky died on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at his residence in the presence of his family. Mr. Gibson was born on December 13, 1927 in Domino, Kentucky to the late Milton A. and Martha Sandlin Gibson. Mr. Gibson was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He was a plant Superintendent for the Commonwealth Journal for over 30 years. He was a member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church and a very special Sunday School Class. He loved hunting, fishing, being outdoors and canoeing on the Big South Fork River. He was a loving and caring father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved his family as much as they loved him. Mr. Gibson is survived by his wife; Phyllis Latham Gibson whom he married on February 6, 1953 (58 years). Three children; Tana (and Billy) Tarter of Nancy, Kentucky, Jenny (and Greg) Miller, James David Gibson (and Dawn Brock) both of Somerset, Kentucky, five grandchildren; Stephen Grundy (and Jennifer), Jerree (and Jason) Humphrey, Jessica (and Rob) Simpson, James R. (and Jessi) Perkins, Ashley (and Tony) Meeks, and the following grandchildren; Brandon and Reagan Humphrey, Zachary Marlow and Seth James Grundy. Mr. Gibson is also survived by one sister; Thelma Smith and two sister-in-laws; Isle Gibson and Elaine Gibson. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers; Johnny, Russell and Elmer Gibson, two sisters; Mary Donovan and Delvere Flynn. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. John Mark Toby officiating. Burial will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery with military honors to be conducted by the American Legion Post #38. The family of Mr. Gibson will receive friends on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 5-8p.m. at Pulaski Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Legion Post #38 or to the Pulaski County EMS. To these groups we the family wish to say a very special “Thank You” for all your support and help.
