George Roberts, 85 of Old Bull Road in Eubank, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born in Shopville, Kentucky on January 15, 1922, son of the late E.G. and Hattie Hair Roberts. He was a farmer and a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Elizabeth Large Spears Roberts of Eubank, one son, Jim & (June) Roberts of the Bobtown community, two brothers, Clinton Roberts of Somerset and Harold & (Sarah) Roberts of Science HIll, one sister, Marie & (Edwin) Johnson of Somerset, two grandchildren, Scott Roberts of the Bobtown community and Merlyn & (Steve) White of South Carolina, three great-grandchildren, Stephen White III, Kristeen Roberts and Haley Roberts, two stepsons, David Bruce & (Kathy) Spears of Indiana and Dennis Mark Spears of West Liberty and four step grandchildren, Christopher Lindsey Spears of Iraq, Daniel Zevin Spears of Texas, David Zachary Spears of Texas and Kasey Nicole Spears of Lexington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Alta Christine Estes Roberts, two sons, Gerald L. Roberts and Merle E. Roberts, six brothers, Arnold, Cecil, Cressel, Kenneth, Charlie and William Roberts, one sister, Edith Roberts, who died in infancy and two grandsons, Matthew Aaron Roberts and Timothy Grant Roberts.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Monday, April 23, 2007 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home, Somerset with Bro. Philip Fisher and Bro. Curtis Brock officiating.
Burial will be in Somerset Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
