Mr. Charles Roy Wheeler, son of the late Dave Jefferson and Mary Martha Tucker Wheeler, was born on January 27, 1926 in Somerset, Kentucky, and he departed this life on Friday, February 18, 2011 having attained the age of 85 years and 22 days.
He was united in marriage to Myrtle Ping Wheeler on November 4, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan. She preceded him in death on Saturday May 17, 2008.
Other than his parents and his beloved wife, he was also preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters.
Mr. Wheeler is survived by a large umber of nephews, nieces and a host of other family members and friends who mourn his passing.
He was a World War II Air Force veteran and was the recipient of the United States Victory Medal, The Asiatic - Pacific Theater Medal with one Bronze Star, and a World War II Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Assembly of God, and before retiring he worked for National Machines Manufacturing Company.
Mr. Charles Roy Wheeler was a kind person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Mullins officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife in the Pitman Creek Cemetery following the funeral services. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 38.
The family will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2011.
In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Assembly of God Building Fund or Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Envelopes will be provided at the Pulaski Funeral Home.
