Angie Marie Smith Vanhook, peacefully entered into eternal rest on April 1, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years; Mr. James Talmadge Vanhook, who passed away on August 11, 1984.
Angie Vanhook was born on September 14, 1913, at Plato, KY the only daughter of Somerfield and Maud Riddle Smith. She graduated from Somerset High School in 1935 and was a charter member of the Bethel Baptist Church, she was also it’s oldest member. She was active in the Caney Fork Homemakers Club, the Woodstock Eastern Star and the Somerset Christian Women’s Club. She especially loved flowers gardening and cooking for her family and friends.
She was a cherished kind, soft spoken and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who taught all of her descendents how to give unconditional love. Her children are; Smith Vanhook of Somerset, KY, Justine (and George) Brinkley of Somerset, KY and Lois Jean (and James) Gover of Grand Blanc, MI. Her grandchildren are; Tina Ann Vanhook, and Gina Luray (and James) Saindon of Somerset, KY, daughters of Clyda and Smith Vanhook; David (and Jennifer) Brinkley of Bowling Green, KY, the son of Justine and George Brinkley and Tamela Maria (and Alan) Patterson of Albuquerque, NM and Angela Ruth Gover of Denver, CO., the daughters of Lois Jean and James Gover.
She was a great grandmother to Cathryn Marie (and Billy) Patrick, Brittany Ann Penick, Maria Patterson, Sydney Saindon, Evan Saindon, Hope Saindon, Madison Brinkley and Braden Brinkley. She is also survived by one brother, Joe M. (and Geneva) Smith of Beaver Creek, OH; a very special cousin, Joyce Thompson, who has been her soulmate and has been at her side for the last six years; two nephews, Charles Smith of Newman. GA and Don Smith of Springboro, OH and one niece, Lou Anne Raeuchle of Louisville, KY.
A service celebrating the life of Angie Vanhook will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2007 at the Bethel Baptist Church on Highway 452 off of Hwy 39. Pastor Phil Fisher and Rev. Ernest Cruse will officiate and Mr. Bob Kennedy will provide the music. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
The family of Mrs. Angie Vanhook will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2007.
