Mr. James A. "Onion" Eastham

Mr. James Arthur “Onion” Eastham, of Somerset, Kentucky son of the late Arthur and Alberta Hargis Eastham was born on September 22, 1923 in Pulaski County, Kentucky and departed this life on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Britthaven Rehabilitation Center having attained the age of 87 years old. He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia Eastham; 2 sons, Jimmy (and Glenda) Eastham of Somerset, Kentucky, Wayne (and Yvette) Eastham of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; 1 daughter, Lisa (and Dwight) Bandy of Somerset, Kentucky. Also surviving is one sister, Edna Paluzi of El Paso, Texas; 7 grandchildren, Darby (and Michelle) Eastham, Molly (and Brian) Dalton, Heather (and Charles) Combs, Holli (and William) Estill Jr., Heidi Bandy, Meridith Eastham and Micah Eastham; 14 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives who all mourn his passing. Mr. Eastham was a member of the First Baptist Church and retired from Morton Salt Company. He was former city council member, a member of the Somerset Masonic Lodge #111, a veteran of the United States Marines, long standing member of Kiwanis Club, as well as many other local civic organizations. The family of Mr. Eastham would like to convey a special “thank you” to the staff of Britthaven Rehabilitation Center for the compassionate care given to Mr. Eastham during his tenure there. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Somerset with Dr. French Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #38. The family of James Arthur “Onion” Eastham will receive friends on Thursday, December 30, 2010 after 5p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Masonic service to be held at 7 p.m. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be handling all arrangements for Mr. James Arthur “Onion” Eastham.
